Abstract
The ongoing cultural contact in Anatolia is one of the most important features in terms of the mixing of the culture with each other and the positioning of the Anatolian communities, who maintain their connection with other cultural groups in the past and present. Historically, the Anatolian lands have hosted different civilizational communities and with each new settlement or when existing factions return, it has a wealth of location and resource advantages sufficient to justify the effectiveness of rebuilding old cities. In this context, they remained loyal to their own cultural traditions by living among the monuments and settlements of their ancestors adopted by the people who settled in the lands of Anatolia. There is no doubt that Anatolia is home to an immense musical heritage beyond all this richness. These lands, which are known as the cradle of civilizations, have also hosted the rich musical accumulation of cultures throughout thousands of years. The Anatolian land, which has been blended with the migration from both the east and the west for centuries, is almost the center of the works that have accumulated in the field of music and musical forms, as well as many ideas and art concepts produced and developed during this time, in the context of intercultural interaction. For centuries, civilizations have gained momentum in order to survive not only by what they produce within the order in their lands, but also from trade, migration and wars that extend to the countries within reach. We can say that this movement and development undoubtedly affected their music. It has been observed that the first source of folklore products reached in the world since the 15th century is the works of the people in Anatolia and Europe. We can observe that the common feature of these people, albeit in different and distant lands, is that their folk songs are unifying, developing, expressing common feelings and reinforcing the sense of unity in the lands they belong to. The tunes and the words belonging to those melodies that reflect the period in which they are performed in every period of time experienced by the society dominate the permanence of the works. These works of art, which we can exemplify in some cases as a lament, a lament that is for the lost loved ones, or a turku for the inequality of order in life, and sometimes a lullaby for a baby, are the most obvious form of transformation, translation and mobility. There is an infinite bond that these prehistoric traces, which bear the most indelible traces of cultures, and the foundations that form the identity of civilizations, survive the previous ones. Undoubtedly, as the person strengthening this bond, the transponders of the works play an important role. Among these transmitters, those who make it possible to observe the movement and transformation in their simplest form, come across with the definition of 'ashik' in Anatolia. The 'ashik's, who reflect the period they belong to and who are the travelers of some kind of history, have been named with various titles in the societies of different geographies and have been representative of different fields. The aim of this article is to reveal the characteristics of the centuries-long tradition of minstrelsy (aşıklık) in the Anatolian territory within the context of translation studies. Ashiks (aşık/minstrels), who have an important role in shaping the culture in the land to which they belong, are the representatives of the region and the people they live in, and the role of the quoter makes itself an element of transformation / translation in itself. In this study, the different identities and works of the ashiks (aşık/minstrels) in Anatolia and Europe will be compared within the framework of intertextuality and selected texts will be examined on the basis of Gerard Genette's translation theories.
