Abstract


Conservative Canon in Teaching Literature
In literature, canon is occured by the combining of the writers and poets of a certain extent together and by taking the others to this group on condition that they are similar to them. In the teaching of literature, canon leads to the formation of a political filter of society's perception of literature.The aim of this study curriculum in language and literature created in Turkey, to investigate the most common name given to the writer and poet; to determine whether a canon was created from these poets and writers. In this study, data analysis method was used from analytical approaches. In this study, after the Republican language and literature curriculum in Turkey it was examined. The name of the author-poet was not found in the curricula before 1950. As of 1950, it was found that the curricula of language and literature courses were more common among writers and poets who preferred the traditional rather than innovation in terms of politics and art. At the end of the study name in the language and literature curriculum in Turkey, the most frequently mentioned artists Yahya Kemal Beyatlı respectively, were found to be of Mehmet Akif Ersoy and Necip Fazıl Kısakürek, Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar (15), Ahmet Haşim (15), Namık Kemal (13), Yunus Emre (11) and Peyami Safa are the most frequently mentioned after them. These writers and poets in a conservative way in terms of artistic and political stance or are also artists of pre-Republican period in the history of Turkish literature.
